It has been 24 days since I last adopted a 'kid . . . and I honestly have no idea why I *needed* to adopt this one since she wasn't even on my 'wish list' and since I'm trying to save my pennies for NYC! Kaylyn Aubrey will be on her way home soon : ) I really like the simple hair - so maybe it was because she has 'Coleco' hair?! Also, I paid $32 in total (including shipping) for her - which technically is a good deal since the 'kids in Canada retail for more than that (I paid about $35 for Louis Walter). Listen to me trying to rationalize this, just like a true junkie! I love looking at pics of PA 'kids, but the PA-5 is the only headmould I like enough to have in my collection - how can you not smile when you see a PA-5????
I also added pics of my Lil' Sprouts - I got a bit carried away with them . . . they were just so darn cute and it was so exciting to be able to pic the ones you want right off the shelf! I don't like the Sprouts that are out now - the ones I've seen with the horses all have the same awful headmould, and the others are 'Sparkle'n'pets' with sparkly hair. Why must one have sparkly hair to have a pet? They were pretty cheap with the sparkles too . . . they have only one or two strands of sparkly hair! On the other hand, I think the new Storybook Sprouts are a brilliant idea!!!
Why couldn't they have made the 1989 and 1990 signatures completely different colours??? I just can't see the difference between the 1989 "rose" or "watermelon" (which is it???) and the 1990 "mauve."
I was pretty happy to see Robert has the early DL signature (on the left). . . but my question is: are these three signatures the same colour??? Is the one on the right a "mauve" colour - are just a darker "rose/watermelon" colour???? I'm tempted to say they are all various shades of the same colour and are all 1989, but who knows . . .
I've added a few more pictures . . . and have now documented all my Coleco 'kids!
Total count: 89!
I still have to take pics of a few more 'Koosas, 3 show ponies, 8 Foreign 'kids, 10 PAs and 3 softies as well as various collectibles . . . but the biggest part of my project is done!
For the first time in a year and a half there is no one "on the way!" Robert Bancroft was the last one to arrive. I'm really trying to be more selective about who comes into my patch. There's no one I really *need* right now, and my post NYC trip wishlist is very small . . . I really need to do some more thinking about what direction I want to go in next.
Tomorrow I'll get caught up on what's been happening at everyone's blogs!
: )
It took me awhile to catch on to this . . . after Tina did it a few times I finally figured it out! I've been trying to do it on my blog when I reply to someone's comments so that you'll get an email in your inbox rather than having to go through every post and every pic again looking for a reply to your comment!
I will try to remember to do it as much as possible, and can I ask everyone to click 'reply' if you are replying to my comment on your blog or on another blog so I don't have to go through every post and every photo again and again . . . well, I'll have to do that anyway to see if anyone else has left a comment too . . . but at least I won't miss a message if it's specifically for me!
Once, when I first started on Vox, I remember clicking on something that let me see every comment made my neighbourhood recently . . . but now I can't remember what I clicked or how I got there! *sigh* I'll keep looking . . .
: )
WOW! I am completely blown away with all the LOOT he brought home with him! Have any of you seen the pics that Peggy posted at the different groups??? I'll try and post some more photos of camp. They made picture frames with a group photo inside it, they made treasure chests out of popsicle sticks (with a necklace and coins inside of it!), they made treasure maps, they decorated t-shirts with all the camper's names written on the back of it . . . someone also gave him a pirate bandana (that Chim-chim is wearing) and an eye patch (that Ben is wearing) . . . he has an autographed photo of Ben Winkler, along with a Pirates of the Caribbean pencil, pirate stickers and a little pirate with a row boat!!! Unbelievable! Peggy is one hard-working, creative woman! It must have taken her forever to make all this stuff!!! Oh, and Peggy was able to get a 'Louisville, KY' stamp for his passport!!!
This has been so much fun!!!
: )
I forgot about my Foreign 'kids and my PA 'kids as well . . . so, I have more work to do than I thought! I did get my Babies done today so take a peek! I took pics of my Toddlers but they don't 'sit' well in the green liner so I have to think of something else! When I started, I tried to do everyone's pics in the order they were released . . . but now I'm so over taking pics and I just want to get everything done, the pics are coming completely out of order!
Remember how I managed to delete my entire desktop - and all my 'kids photos and spreadsheet? At the same time, my external hard drive broke (the storage device I used for all my photos from Europe and all my music!). Today, my brother put the external hard drive in a new case and I finally had access to my old CPK spreadsheet and some old pics! The spreadsheet was a backup and hadn't been updated since May 2007 - but at least now I won't have to go searching through old emails & paypal to figure out how much I paid and when someone arrived here. I also have old pics of who was wearing what when they arrived here. This makes things a whole lot easier!
AND I found the pic of Winston with the cut in his face:
I've also added more pics of 1985, 1986 & 1987 'kids . . . only 3 more pics to go before I finish with all my regular 'kids and can get started on the Babies, Toddlers & DL 'kids!!! The end is near everyone!!!
I don’t know what’s happening to me everyone, but I’m getting very excited about the 25th Anniversary!!! I think I might go to the Birthday Party at the TRU in NYC!!! I was just looking at flights on the internet (it’s a day’s drive but my car won’t make it that far!) – and it’s entirely possible! Oh dear, I think I'm losing it. It would be very, very cool to meet the man who started it all! I think Karen would like to go as well, she says she's been bitten by the travelling bug after her big trip to Georgia! (Note: I was also thinking about going back to Georgia for the big bash – but the New Kids concert is the day before, so unfortunately I can’t make it (priorities here!)!!!)
"Hi everybody. This is our last newsletter and this is our last two campers reporting: Bradley and Elvis Lloyd. When we got up today we remembered that we forgot to make our treasure maps so Miss Peggy helped us and then Mr Kushman helped us even more...he did the fire part. He burned holes in our maps for us which was really cool to watch.
Then we got to split up all the Pirate loot - there were the jewels from the treasure chest and the pirate toys and the stickers that our friend Jacinta sent us all the way from New Zealand. She's part of the 'Kids Only Club. That was real nice of her even though she didn't come to camp. We also had lots of different kinds of coins to split up. Sandy Diane & Junior brought Disney coins to share and Ben Winkler brought coins too.
Ben's coins came with black pirate bags that have skulls and cross bones on them. There were only two bags and we didn't know how to split those up so we decided to have a drawing. We all put our names into a bag and then Mr. Kushman drew 2 of the names out of the bag. We had 2 winners!! Sandy Diane and Cedric were the winners! YAY! So, they got to take the pirate loot bags home with them. Miss Peggy got a picture of them with their prizes.
We've got so much stuff that we're bringing back and so many stories to tell you all. Best of all is that we're bringing a picture CD with all the pictures on it.
We miss all of our parents and siblings but we're gonna miss all of our new friends too!
See you soon,
Elvis Lloyd and Bradley"
I had so much fun taking pics of Karen & I'm loving all the pics from Pirate Camp . . . so I'd thought I'd ask if any of your 'kids would like to come to Canada for a week??? Not so much as a camp (because I'm not as creative as Peggy!) but for a vacation & to meet some other 'kids!!! Sometime in August perhaps, or Labour Day (which is in September on this side of the Atlantic!) Or if that's too early to get organized I can host all the 'kids here for Hallowe'en!!!! Heck I can do both!!!
Anyway, let me know what you think! You'd have to pay for shipping of course, though I have no idea the $$$ to send a 'kid across the Atlantic!
Ooooh this could be fun!!!
Thanks Tina! And it's good to see they kept up the tradition of the Coleco Cabbage Patch Kids with names... read more
